News has emerged today, that despite wall-to-wall coverage on BBC and ITV that appears to provide evidence to the contrary, that there are in fact teams other than England participating in The Six Nations rugby tournament this year.
The news has come after England somehow lost last weekend to what’s being referred to as ‘another side’. An ITV spokesman commented: ‘After England’s shock defeat we now have reason to believe that there may actually be more countries than just England competing this year. Certainly some other country must have beaten them and we are now working round the clock to see if we can establish who it was.’
Meanwhile a clearly shaken John Inverdale has declared himself ‘absolutely flummoxed’ by the news and speaking on last night’s One Show he said: ‘Yes, odd as it may seem, we concur with our ITV colleagues and have reason to believe that there may actually be more countries than just England competing this year. And although we have been unable to establish their nationalities, it’s a mystery and we’re working on it.’
‘Mind you, the Brazilians are very good at ball games, aren’t they, so it could be them, couldn’t it? But rest assured we’re hoping to clear things up before England’s next game, when we’re sure viewers can expect our sickening and partisan coverage will be fully restored, as once more the majestic mighty English will enjoy another masterful victory.’
