A week after Little Achievers Prep School in London’s leafy Chiswick broke up for the Summer Holidays, reception class teacher, Hannah Meadowes, has been enjoying the current heatwave soaking up the sun in her new Mini Clubman Convertible, gifted to her as an end of year thank you by one grateful Mum and daughter.
A breathless Hannah said: ‘I was bowled over by the generosity of some of the children but to have received three diamond-encrusted Rolexes, not to mention the one week timeshare on the Monte Carlo apartment, the 55″ LED Flatscreen TV and countless other goodies is brilliant. But the Mini of course is simply amazing.’
Mum, Jocasta Pfillager, whose daughter Persephone-Belinda presented Miss Meadowes with the keys to the car at assembly, denies attempting to curry favour with the teacher in order to ensure her daughter is cast as the lead in this year’s Christmas Nativity Play.
‘That’s not it at all,’ insists Jocasta, ‘Hannah is such a gifted and caring teacher and along with my husband, Oscar, we just wanted to say a massive thank you for all she has done. I know she will need no grubby inducement, no matter how trivial, for her to spot Seffie’s acting prowess. We simply gave the gift as we are knocked out by Hannah. She’s fantastic.’ I’ll be just as happy if my angel is cast as a non-speaking… err… angel, to be honest.’
Meanwhile Hannah’s flatmate, Denise Brown, whom she met at teacher training college and also teaches a reception class at The Cardinal Rathbone Primary School in Peckham, was also understood to be delighted with her own haul of gifts comprising of a box of heat-damaged Malteasers and three slightly over-ripe satsumas.
