Stand-up comedian and presenter, Jimmy Carr, has once more found himself in hot water after being cautioned by police for possession of the nation’s most irritating, and some say, false laugh.
The tax-lax funnyman who was on the set of 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown when officers swooped, has been given a month to find a new response to what he finds funny – one guaranteed not to incite the desire to commit brutal murder in even the most level-headed of people.
One show insider said: ‘I’m not surprised this has happened. We often remark on it and have now gone through ten different sound men since starting this latest run. They’re all now in counselling suffering from acute symptoms of repressed rage, deep depression and total nervous exhaustion. Jimmy’s laugh takes a terrible toll. He sounds like a demented penguin with a piece of Lego stuck in its throat.’
The show’s glamourous maths genius and resident brainbox, Rachel Riley, told the press: ‘Since the police swoop Jimmy’s agent has managed to get him a cameo in EastEnders for three episodes. We’re all hoping and praying that exposure to such high levels of bleak misery does the trick and he returns to us with a normal and more considered easier-on-the-ear chuckle.’
